Welcome to Form & Flow, a new way for us to connect with the community beyond Instagram. This newsletter is a space to share thoughts, highlight standout prompts, and give a behind-the-scenes look at what we’re working on. We hope to capture what we love about this community—the balance between structure and creativity, precision and intuition.

It’s been an amazing few months so far—our new website is working as we’d hoped, and there’s already a wealth of community work to admire. Seeing all the submissions in one place has been inspiring, and we’re excited to keep building on that momentum.

Season 8: The First Four Prompts

Season 8 has been off to a strong start, with four distinct prompts that have pushed creativity in different ways.

The Utility Blade challenge was an instant hit—something about the simplicity of a blade sparks immediate ideas, making it a highly intuitive project. There’s a clarity to a tool like this. You see it, and your mind instantly starts shaping a solution. This kind of prompt was a great reminder of how some of the best design ideas don’t come from overthinking but from that first gut reaction—the moment when inspiration moves faster than analysis.

In contrast, the 3D Pattern prompt was more abstract, less of an "aha" moment and more of a puzzle to solve. Both approaches offer unique creative challenges, and it’s been exciting to see how the community tackled them.

Wood Week brought another layer of depth, thanks to Visune for providing excellent downloadable assets. Their contribution made it easier to explore materials and textures in fresh ways, and we’re looking forward to more collaborations in the future with their team.

Most recently, Flashlight Week has been a return to our roots—core industrial design prompts that focus on foundational skills. These kinds of projects were where Render Weekly started, and it’s been great to revisit them.

How We Feature Designers on Render Weekly

Ever wondered what goes into selecting featured designs each week? We’ve put together a breakdown of our process—what we look for, how we curate, and why certain submissions stand out. If you’re looking for insights on how to get featured, check out the full article here: How We Feature Designers on Render Weekly.

Looking Ahead

Week 5 is shaping up to be another core ID prompt, with a product pairing involved. We’re already spinning on it.

We’ll continue exploring a range of categories for future prompts. If you have ideas, drop them in the Instagram comments—we’d love to hear them. We’re also open to partnering with brands that align with the design community, so if you're interested in sponsoring a prompt, reach out.
